No Boats October Gigs / Barrel~dEM Promotions / Where I'll be

BOOOO! October is here once again ... one of my favorite months. I love the weather and halloween is around the corner. Here are some of the places you can find me deejaying, working or just hanging out:

Not that you really need a reason to party, but I'll give you 2 good ones, just in case:

I'm throwing this party to raise funds for an awesome, super smart friend, Rhiannon who needs some help paying for her college education. She's already gotten grants, loans, and scholarships and has THREE jobs, but damn, college is expensive... and this is my way of helping her out, which you all get to be a part of! :)
AND I'm moving out of Chicago in just a few weeks... and so I'm also using this as sort of a last hurrah before I go (*tear*) so I want to see all my favorite people there! ♥

So, although this IS a FREE party, we will be accepting donations at the door, anything at all that you can give to help our friend Rhiannon out would be SUPER appreciated :) ALL of the money given at the door, the bar, and at Sebrina's cosmo services will go to this fundraiser.

Pass this e-mail along to your FRIENDS :) This is not a party to bring strangers to... friends and family only please, so we can make sure everyone has a good, safe time :)

Can't wait to see you on the dance floor..... until then.... ;)

~Meghan

You're so very welcome to join your friends in Chicago's Burning Man
Community for Decompression 2011: The Voyage Home. Every year, this
B.U.R.N. NFP-sponsored community event brings the loving, creative
spirit, and the full-throttled energy of the Burning Man Project to
beautiful Chicago, Illinois for thirteen hours.

On Saturday, October 15th, you and hundreds of your closest friends
will return to the Bridgeport Arts Center to create your version of
Black Rock City, right here in your own amazing town.

This community-arts event will be - as always - for you, and by you,
complete with music, art installations, food, fire, friends, family
and FUN! This event will be conducted in accordance with the Ten
Principles of the Burning Man Regional Network
http://regionals.burningman.com/network_principles.html . Full
financial reports will be available to this community after
Decompression is over.

Donations for reserved admission will be available online shortly
after Burning Man.

THEME: THE VOYAGE HOME
Some “Rites of Passage” call you away from your nest for a pilgrimage
or exploration, a battle, or mission. The Rite then ends with “The
Voyage Home,” a familiar story to burners in and around our great
town.

Each August, hundreds of Chicagoans voyage 2000 miles to Black Rock
City, where they are greeted with the words “Welcome Home.” Yet in
September they voyage 2000 more miles back to their permanent homes in
Chicago and the family, friends, or lovers unable to travel those 4000
miles.

And that's why there's a Decompression . . . for everyone to relive
Home, right here in our amazing town.

✖✖BLACK LIGHT SAINTS✖✖
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Black-Light-Saints/153131561380471?
ref=ts&sk=wall
The undeniable sound from BLS (Black Light Saints) is the hot new collaboration of musician Alex Barandi, Ephriam Cuellar (Dynasty of Poseidon), and Britton Wetherald (British knights). Barandi, a seasoned indie rock musician and long time friend of Cuellar was looking to work on a dance music project and knew Wetherald and Cuellar had a reputation for their tireless efforts in the club scene through KDM events and as DJ duo, Disco Death Threat. What began as hazy late night conversations became studio sessions writing and creating music that entrances listeners in the moment and makes their bodies want to dance. Parts new wave, post punk, disco, pop, rock and electronica the sound melds together in their upcoming and much anticipated EP set to be released 10/10

✖✖RITES✖✖
https://www.facebook.com/ritesband?ref=ts&sk=wall
Rites are an Indie/Electronic duo with a fresh sound most recently compared to "the feeling of Beck with the effortlessly hip sensibility of French pop.". Incorporating a high-energy blend of rock and dance, their live performance boasts a unique style crossover that is demanded by many different crowds. The group has been sought out by numerous Chicago venues including The Art Institute, Debonair, Schuba's and have just returned from an East Coast tour with dates in New York, Baltimore and DC

✖✖GHOST HOUSE✖✖
https://www.facebook.com/GhosthouseChicago?sk=wall
Ghosthouse is an ElectroFunk duo from Chicago, most recently said to be “giving Chromeo a run for their money” by UR Chicago Magazine. Distinguishing themselves as a hybrid of current dance and classic funk hits with their own quintessential throwback cool, Ghosthouse has a sound that reverberates every cell of your body and implements a dress code to your dance music.

✖✖PERFECT KISS✖✖
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Perfect-Kiss/74723706186?ref=ts&sk=app_178091127385

Their material is enthused with an electronic current throughout, with "Stay out all night" holding an especially prevalent "Cure" mood. Members include Leo Saucedo, Alfonso Mayen, Danny Lucero, and Ray Mora, who have played at many of Chicago's most well known venues including, The Metro, Smartbar, Lincoln Hall, Schubas, Empty Bottle, House of Blues and Debonair Social Club just to name a few. However they are most notoriously known for playing Chicago's underground party circuit, where they have rocked out countless times

Compact Disco is the freshest Chicago powerhouse DJ duo that's taking the midwest by storm. Formally established in April of 2009, they've grown and gotten really lucky at times. They've performed for crowds of 100 to crowds of over 1000, with a fanpage boasting over 2,300 fans. Compact Disco has played along side local and national acts such as Passion Pit, Felix Da Housecat, Flux Pavillion, Doctor P, Mustard Pimp, and more. You can catch them spinning an eclectic mix of electro, dubstep, tech house, and much much more, and in their live set you'll catch Nick Bernstein on drums, banging it out to a live set by Henry Jai. Get ready to go hard.

✖✖MARA✖✖
https://www.facebook.com/Maraband
After the breakup of a previous band, Fern and Walter decided to continue on and form Mara with Jimmy and Stevematt. The line up continued up until the spring of '10 with Stevematt leaving the group. Mara then added Paco and Guerro to the line up. With a fresh new roster, Mara is branching off to other genres but keeping metal as the base. With a very energetic show, they do not disappoint leaving people with their mouths open in awe. With a new E.P. coming out soon, Mara is ready to take the city by storm

✖✖YETI ✖✖
http://www.facebook.com/pages/YETI/179321938748811
YETI embodies the spirit of constant change. Dissatisfied with being classified within a certain genre, YETI takes what it pleases from any and all genres of music. Every song is a layered monument to artistic originality. We desire to create and share great music and hopefully broaden the tastes of those we come into contact with

✖✖SAVAGERY✖✖

What began as hazy late night conversations became studio sessions writing and creating music that entrances listeners in the moment and makes their bodies want to dance.
