There was a lot of media coverage on Burning Man this year ... more than I have ever seen in years past. One story that got a lot of coverage was the Skrillex and Diplo set at Burning Heart and the rumor that they got booed off when Diplo dropped "Turn Down for What". Whether it was true or not, one other artist played an amazing set there - which was recorded for those of us unlucky enough not to attend.

Ghostly recording artist Tycho played a sunrise set for Disco Space Shuttle on Friday, August 29, 2014. Tycho included a pretty eclectic selection including some classics like the drum n' bass track Photek - Pharoah (a gem I had on vinyl once), which was played right before sunrise. I can only imagine how incredible it was to be there. The total result is pure magic!

TERRY CREWS IS :: Major Lazer - Scare Me feat. Peaches & Timberlee

OK, now I have seen it all! In this latest Major Lazer video, where the Major is played by none other than Terry Crews, he is summoned by the Cinco Commander and teamed with Knife Fight to scour the city for General Rubbish. What follows is total, over-the-top cornball action sequences. It is entertaining, I'll give it that much, but can it really redeem this song?

Major Lazer has seemingly gone downhill after Diplo partner Switch left the group citing creative differences. Also, in case you missed it, once frontman Skerrit Bwoy has also left the group and "daggering" when he found God.

I had such high hopes for the group after the release of their track Get Free. Still, I have to say Terry Crews is the perfect Major Lazer.

EDDIE MURPHY - "REDLIGHT" feat...Snoop Lion

I haven't heard Eddie on a track since 1985's Party All The Time. Fortunately, he hooked up with Snoop Lion to create Redlight - a throwback to the heyday of roots reggae. If you haven't understood Snoop Dogg a.k.a. Snoop Lion's transformation into a reggae artist, I would recommend "Reincarnated" - the new documentary by Vice. This isn't a gimmick and Snoop Lion, has got the skills and the heart to do whatever he wants creatively.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT :: Mansions on the Moon (download)

Did you ever want to live on the Moon? I did. It would be so easy to build a mansion there, with very little gravity and plenty of rock. I never gave up on that dream and neither did this band. Mansions on the Moon was formed in 2011 in Virginia Beach, VA. They were comprised of Ted Wendler on guitar and vocals, Ben Hazlegrove on keyboards, and Lane Shaw on drums. Both Shaw and Hazlegrove were also members of Pnuma Trio. Jeff Maccora later joined on bass.
Their first release, Paradise Falls (Presented by Diplo & DJ Benzi), garnered the attention of many prominent blogs and in 2011 hypetrak called them one of the "most interesting recording artists to have emerged this year." Paradise Falls includes collaborations with Xaphoon Jones (of Chiddy Bang), Deadmau5, Washed Out, and Big Gigantic, among others. The trio has worked closely with members of N*E*R*D, and Pharrell Williams served as executive producer on their 2012 EP Lightyears.
The group has produced official remixes for Foster the People and Zee Avi, and produced the Mac Miller track "PA Nights" on the album Blue Slide Park. In 2011 the group joined Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller on the Green Carpet Tour, and also performed at the Snowball Music Festival. In 2012 they played South by Southwest and the Lightyears Tour. Mansions on the Moon is the latest project from Lane Shaw and Ben Hazlegrove (of Pnuma Trio) along with singer/songwriter, Ted Wendler. The group formed a little over a year ago, developing their signature sound at studios in Atlanta and Virginia Beach and have since collaborated with N*E*R*D, Diplo, DJ Benzi and Chiddy Bang's Xaphoon Jones. 


Paradise Falls, presented by Diplo and DJ Benzi illustrates the wide range of Mansions on the Moon’s musical capabilities.
