CATCH ME :: Felix Cartal - Runaway (Feat. REGN)

Felix Cartal - Runaway (Feat. REGN)

In an effort to keep this site relevant, I'm trying to post at least once a day again. Please let me know what types of music you'd love to see more of reviewed here by hitting us up on Twitter @barreldEM.

Today we have the first track off the upcoming album from Vancouver based Felix Cartel. He's joined up with REGN (Los Angeles) to create an infectious, bouncy house track that will have you heading for the dance floor.

This is a great sign that the new album will be full of quality music.

“Feeling excited and overwhelmed right now because i am proud to announce the first single off my forthcoming album comes out next friday. the song is called Runaway . i hope you enjoy xx” – Felix Cartal

Modern Day Guru :: Matthew Silver

Matthew Silver

I can't stop watching it. There has been a video making the rounds on facebook of a crazy long-haired, long-bearded guy ... who must clearly be a crazy guy on drugs answering questions about life, advice to younger generations and passion. Why wouldn't he be on drugs? He's clearly making sense and making farting noises with his mouth ... but I doubt it's the drugs talking. NYC Street Performer Matthew Silver is hardly crazy, in fact, rather than spending much of his time in a job he hates, he get's paid to do what he loves - which is to perform. He also records weddings on the side for extra money ... but that's hardly work either, right? Just knowing that Matt loves me, makes life better.

For more info on Matt, just search youtube for Matthew Silver and you can hear his story, see more performances and get to know him a little better.

GIANT MOVIE SAMPLE SOURCE DATABASE

I recently came across a webpage(text based), showing tons of movies and citing songs which use those movie samples. It claims to be “The Top 1319 Sample Sources” used in music from movies and other sources. All of the stuff is pre-2004, but I'm having a lot of fun going through this and checking out all the sample sources from songs I know. Check it out here - http://semimajor.net/samples/sourcelist_20041019.txt

Switch Killa on turntable.fm

For those not familiar with turntable.fm, allow me to introduce you. turntable.fm is a social music sharing site, allowing users to either upload music or select from a database, then share that music with others. Users create themed rooms to share their tracks, and listeners can vote either "awesome" or "lame" depending on their preference. It is quite addicting, and hella fun.

My husband and I have spent much time on the site already, and have even set up our own room. We've got a slew of old school house, techno, electro, freestyle, and disco tracks we'd love you to hear, and would love you to come by and share some of your own!
