Tycho :: Black Sunrise - Sunrise DJ Set at Burning Man 2014

Tycho - Black Sunrise

There was a lot of media coverage on Burning Man this year ... more than I have ever seen in years past. One story that got a lot of coverage was the Skrillex and Diplo set at Burning Heart and the rumor that they got booed off when Diplo dropped "Turn Down for What". Whether it was true or not, one other artist played an amazing set there - which was recorded for those of us unlucky enough not to attend.

Ghostly recording artist Tycho played a sunrise set for Disco Space Shuttle on Friday, August 29, 2014. Tycho included a pretty eclectic selection including some classics like the drum n' bass track Photek - Pharoah (a gem I had on vinyl once), which was played right before sunrise. I can only imagine how incredible it was to be there. The total result is pure magic!

Tycho - full albums

What the hell was I listening to ten years ago? In the last year I've discovered Explosions in the Sky, Helios and now today, Tycho.

Old, but not in the spectrum of the universe, which is what this makes me think and feel like.

TAKE ME AWAY :: Tycho - Dive (Full Album)

Ghostly International wunderkind Scott Hansen a.k.a. Tycho, has been has been making ambient music since 2004. He didn't really come to prominence until 2008 though when his music was played on Cartoon Networks Toonami block and later Adult Swim. His music might often be mistaken for Boards of Canada, as the sounds are so similar.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT :: Teen Daze (download)

Ah Canada ... land of buds and maple syrup. "The Great White North" has produced a ton of incredible artists from Chromeo to Jokers of the Scene, A Tribe Called Red, A-Trak, Caribou, Datsik, Crystal Castles and Kid Koala. Recently, Teen Daze from British Columbia popped up on my radar. Teen Daze has been producing tracks and remixes since 2010, with a optimistic and futuristic feeling.

I've decided to share a few of my favorites below. The first, a remix of Giraffage & XXYYXX's trap heavy Even Though is definitely my jam. Teen Daze takes the original to another level by bringing up the synths and then breaking down to a 4x4 beat. You'll find a download link underneath the video. The Future is a mood enhancing trancer with luscious vocals. What You Feel is a pie in the sky disco track, while the last track is a gorgeous remix of Tycho's called Hours. Listen and show some love.
