Daft Punk - Instant Crush ft. Julian Casablancas

Daft Punk - Instant Crush ft. Julian Casablancas

Daft Punk have just released the video for their track Instant Crush featuring Strokes lead singer Julian Casablancas. The video and song frame up a perfect little love ditty done Daft Punk style. Julian, who was specifically chosen for his former work with the Strokes, helped Daft Punk bring this song to fruition from a demo track that they had lying around.

20 Years of Ravin'

20 Years of Ravin'

When I was young, I listened to a lot of electronic based music - New Order, Depeche Mode, etc. But it wasn't until the early 90's and in particular 1993 that I got into DJ led dance and rave music. You see, I was stationed in Germany in the military at the time and the rave clubs and parties over there were burgeoning. I got an earful of that repetitive, driving sound and the vibe from all the other participants and I couldn't stop. I wanted to share a few of the anthems that I still listen to after all these years - the ones that were formative in my music education, whether they be techno, house, trance, breakbeat, drum 'n bass, dubstep, trap or downtempo, from that time until the present day.

And back to where it began-

SHINY :: Daft Punk - Lose Yourself to Dance

Daft Punk have finally dropped the official video to Lose Yourself to Dance ... one of the best tunes on Random Access Memories. Unfortunately, the video is lackluster, unlike Daft Punk's earlier videos - known for being strange, innovative or imaginative.

FRIDAY REBOOT :: We Plants Are Happy Plants - Apollo 2012

It's friday and time for a reboot of one of my favorite tunes - We Plants Are Happy Plants' Apollo. I absolutely love this one. I even use it as my ringtone. Hungarian, Peter Bergmann creates symphonic, cinematic and emotional pieces of musical art through his everyday inspirations.

In his own words - "my mission is to create music that makes it possible for joy, happiness and ultimately upliftment to flow through the listener and to (if even for short lived moments) take you (and me) above mind created constructs, so we can really feel alive and ALLOW what is happening in the present moment."

2001: A Space Odyssey Audio Syncs

The mythos surrounding the director Stanley Kubrick continues to this day. His most psychedelic movie was definitely 2001: A Space Odyssey, and in particular, the ending scenes. That's why it's no surprise that people are so fascinated with songs that supposedly match up with the visuals in the movie.

I've included a few examples below, including Daft Punk's Contact and Pink Floyd's Echoes. Pink Floyd is most well known for the implication that their album "Dark Side of the Moon" syncs up to the movie The Wizard of Oz. If you have a lot of LSD and / or time on your hands - you should check out some of the suggestions on this site.

DOPPEL PUNK :: Daft Punk - Random Access Memories (Vanderway Edit)

Another great remix from the little bit of the upcoming Daft Punk album - Random Access Memories that we've been lucky to hear, this time from Vanderway. This release seems to have the greatest hype of any group in some time ... and for good reason, it's Daft Punk.

A VIRTUAL GOLDMINE :: CK303 - Daft Punk's "Teachers" Volume II, tracks from 1977-1997 that inspired 'Homework'

Talk about classics ... a lot of times, old school tracks are very refreshing. Especially when you can hear what has influenced the modern day. CK303 has put together a mix of classic house and techno tracks that were largely influential on Daft Punk when they got their start. "It's amazing what you'll find face to face ...."
