Not going to lie, today has been an exceptional day. Let's keep the ball rolling with some excellent tunage from Cosmo's Midnight. Cosmo's Midnight hail from Sydney, Australia and the Ozzies are twins. Cosmo and Patrick Liney have been making music for half a decade now. Like some other Ozzies, they are doing it right - must be something in the water there or all that sun. Get To Know features Winston Surfshirt on flow and is just a really good feelgood song.

DANIEL JOHNS' solo album :: TALK

I live in Australia. You should probably have realized that by now, but you most likely don't know why.

SILVERCHAIR, more specifically, Daniel Johns. His ridiculous artistic talent has been evolving in it's expression for the past 20 years (yes frogstomp is 20 year's old, 6 year's older than Chris, Ben and Daniel were when the album was released).

I fell of the beautiful bandwagon for a few years, and this new music from Johns is absolutely nothing at all like anything you ever heard by Silverchair, but my oh my does the album that Johns released last month as a solo artist make me fall in love so many more times over again.

We all grow and change and I'm rapt with the evolution of Johns creative genius.
Preach boy, you are on fire, and don't ever stop.

I recently posted about the sounds of my high school years. That list would not be complete without mentioning this album, The Church - Starfish. Voted by me as one of the sexiest albums of all time. If you can't get laid to this, then you might as well give up all your possessions and become a eunuch.

The Church moved to L.A. to record this album and they hated L.A. Why? Because it wasn't Sydney.  They went to get the polished production sounds that came about from working with Robert "Waddy" Wachtel and Greg Ladanyi. Lead singer Steve Kilbey said:

"The Church came to L.A. and really reacted against the place because none of us liked it. I hated where I was living. I hated driving this horrible little red car around on the wrong side of the road. I hate that there's no one walking on the streets and I missed my home. All the billboards, conversations I'd overhear, TV shows, everything that was happening to us was going into the music".

That unease translated well into their album and Starfish became a breakthrough album. 20+ years later, it still sounds golden.

An Evening at the Nash - some indie pop contagion

The Holidays' first album (very island rock/pop) was my beach trip soundtrack last summer.

Finally, Gotye is a ridiculous musical mad genius who is seemingly obsessed with oh-so-raw break up songs.  Anyway, this single (with Kimbra - you know her 'Settle Down' track, right? Ah stuff it, I'll include it too) is from his new album that was released last week.
